Disc Washer (Belleville Washer)
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Disc washers (Belleville springs) are conical spring washers that deliver very high spring forces in minimal axial space. By stacking them in series (softer, more travel) or parallel (stiffer, same travel), virtually any spring rate can be achieved. They are used wherever consistent clamping force must be maintained against thermal expansion, creep, or relaxation — such as pressure vessel flanges, valve actuators, and bolted joints in nuclear and petrochemical plants.

Wave Washer
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Wave washers have a sinusoidal wave profile around their circumference, providing a uniform and gentle axial spring force. They are most commonly used for light preloading of ball bearings to eliminate axial play (end-float), taking up assembly tolerances, and providing cushioning in bolted joints. Unlike disc washers, wave washers apply load more evenly around their circumference, making them ideal for sensitive precision assemblies.
| Standards | DIN 137 |

| Material | Carbon Spring Steel, SS 304, SS 316, Phosphor Bronze |
| Outside Diameter | Ø6 mm – Ø100 mm |

Common Applications
- Bearing Preload
- Axial Play Elimination
- Instrument Components
- Electronic Assemblies

Knurling Washer
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Knurling washers have a cross-hatched or straight-knurled surface that bites into the mating surface when the bolt is tightened, providing additional friction and resistance to joint loosening. They are particularly effective in soft-substrate applications — such as wooden panels, plastics, and thin sheet metal — where a standard flat washer would spin freely. Also used as an anti-rotation device under bolt heads in automated assembly.
| Type | Cross-knurl / Straight-knurl |
|---|---|
| Material | Carbon Steel, Hardened Steel, SS 304 |
| Size Range | M5 – M80 |
| Knurl Pattern | Diamond / Straight |
| Finish | Self-colour, Zinc plated, Phosphated |
Common Applications
- Wooden Panel Fastening
- Sheet Metal Assemblies
- Plastics & Composites
- Anti-rotation Under Bolt Heads
- Furniture & Fixtures

Lock Washer (Spring Washer)
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Lock washers (spring washers) are split-ring or helical washers that create a spring-like tension under the bolt head, resisting loosening from vibration. DIN 127 (helical spring lock washer) is the most common type, used as a low-cost anti-loosening measure in general mechanical assemblies. MB lock washers for KM locknuts are also available for bearing preload applications.
| Standards | DIN 127, DIN 128 |
|---|---|
| Material | Spring Steel, SS 304, SS 316 |
| Size Range | M3 – M64 |
| Types | Type A (normal), Type B (heavy) |
| Finish | Self-colour, Zinc plated, Black oxide |
Common Applications
- General Engineering
- Automotive Assemblies
- Electrical Enclosures
- Pump & Motor Mounting
- Machinery Base Plates

Wedge Lock Washer
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Wedge lock washers are a bolt-securing system that works by the wedge effect. Used in pairs, each washer has radial cams on one face and serrations on the other. When the bolt is tightened, the serrations grip the bolt head and mating surface while the cam faces lock together. Any attempt by vibration to loosen the bolt causes the cams to ride up, tensioning the joint further — making this the most reliable anti-vibration solution available.
| Type | Cam-lock type (sold in pairs) |
|---|---|
| Material | Hardened Steel, SS 316 |
| Size Range | M5 – M100 |
| Cam Angle | Greater than thread pitch angle |
| Finish | Zinc-flake / Hot-dip galvanised |
| Temperature | –50°C to +300°C |
Common Applications
- Rail & Rolling Stock
- Wind Turbines
- Heavy Machinery
- Structural Steelwork
- Mining Equipment
DIN 6319 • M8 – M100
Spherical Washer
Ex-stock Mumbai · Custom sizes: 5–7 days
Spherical washers (also called taper seat washers) consist of a matching convex and concave pair used together to compensate for angular misalignment between a bolt and its mating surface. When perpendicular alignment between the bolt axis and the contact surface cannot be guaranteed — such as on angled brackets or sloped beams — spherical washers distribute load evenly and prevent bending stress in the fastener, dramatically improving joint reliability.
| Standards | DIN 6319 (C = concave, D = convex) |
|---|---|
| Material | Carbon Steel, SS 304 |
| Size Range | M8 – M100 |
| Angular Compensation | Up to 3° |
| Used In | Pairs (convex + concave) |
| Finish | Black oxide, Zinc plated |
Common Applications
- Structural Connections
- Machinery Base Levelling
- Angled Brackets
- Bridge & Crane Structures
- Construction Equipment
Common Questions
Washer FAQ
What is a wedge lock washer and how does it work?
A wedge lock washer is a pair of washers with radial cams on the mating faces and serrations on the outer faces. When tightened, the serrations grip the bolt head and surface while the cam faces lock together. Vibration forces the cams to ride upward, increasing bolt tension rather than allowing loosening.
What is the difference between a disc washer and a wave washer?
A disc washer (Belleville, DIN 2093) is conical and delivers very high spring force in minimal axial space — ideal for heavy preloading and flange joints. A wave washer (DIN 137) has a sinusoidal profile giving a gentler, more even spring force — best for light bearing preload and axial play elimination in precision assemblies.
What is a spherical washer used for?
Spherical washers compensate for angular misalignment between a bolt and its mating surface (up to 3°). Used in pairs (concave + convex), they distribute load evenly and eliminate bending stress in the fastener when perfect perpendicular alignment cannot be achieved — common in structural steelwork and machinery mounting.
Do you supply washers in stainless steel?
Yes. Most washer types are available in SS 304 and SS 316. SS 316 is recommended for marine, food processing, and chemical environments. Contact us to confirm availability of a specific type and size in stainless steel.
Can disc washers (Belleville springs) be stacked?
Yes. Stacking disc washers in parallel (same orientation) multiplies the load capacity while keeping the same deflection. Stacking in series (alternating orientation) multiplies the deflection while keeping the same load. Combination stacking achieves a custom spring rate for any requirement.
